Well said B. OP should avoid throwing off the shelf parts at it for the reasons you mentioned. Honda built this engine at race level so beating out of the box parts (except the exhaust) is hard to do. The best thing for an F20C is to get the F22C retainers and swap them in. Easiest way to make big power without touching the engine is to supercharge. Good bolt ons coupled with a good toon bumps up performance well enough for NA builds.
