Default AP1 Intake Manifolds

Doing an all motor build on my F20C including cams, 12.5:1 compression, and AEM EMS along with many other items. Just wondering now that I am getting close to the end of my build ,what options are out there for the IM. I currently have a 65 mm throttle body but looking to possibly go bigger (i.e 70) and match it up with a larger IM (more air = good, especially when you have the ability to adjust fuel delivery).

Ive done some searching on here and all I can seem to find is talks about a Carbon fiber IM but seems to have dropped off the face of this planet, and everyone else is just porting and polishing their unit. What are my options?

Larger TB's don't yield power and larger diameter doesn't mean the engine's pumping will pull any more. Stock is good enough almost and going with a 70mm will do nothing but hinder your driving ability since the throttle becomes so touchy.

Just save your $$$ until Christmas time for some good stuff (and this one will let the hood close )...

well the engine is already out and all taken apart and looking to put it back together soon. Removing the IM with the engine in is a royal pain in the A$$... I prefer to do it in 1 shot.

The throttle body alone will not "pull in" more air on its own, i understand. It is in the design of the IM which will affect the volume drawn into the engine. the larger TB would only be a secondary item to the IM (at least in my eyes).

ITB's would be my choice but I understand your point with tuning. Take a look at this link, I am not too sure on the gains. I am sure if you contact them you could find out when they plan to market it.

looks interesteing, but i question its performance.

I have the odd feeling I may end up with ITB's if I can not find anything useful.

So long as you get ITBs with a system for using the MAP, daily tuning as the weather changes should not be an issue.

Look for a thread from wildcardtrd on his ITB set up.
