Really, I was under the suspicion that you replace the whole bottom portion(black part) with one that has a single exhaust cutout? I even looked underneath a friend's ap1 and noticed clips holding up the bottom portion(black part). How else are you able to replace it unless there's modifications that need to be done?

Its all one piece, and the single exhaust caps all go over the stock dual caps, and are then attached with double sided tape. The clips on the bottom...don't need to be there but I think they are there to hold that piece up flush so it doesn't sag.
