Default AP2 UK mod-I'm not happy

Hi guys-
I finally got my UK mod on my '08. The muffler shop used a 1 inch aluminum pipe on each side. I was thrilled as I started to drive thinking it sounded just like stock while cruising. Then I got on the highway waiting for this glorious sound but can't help to say it sounds just like before! What the hell? Will upgrading to 1.25 inch help? I really like the stock sound around town but was hoping for a better sound as the Rpms increase. Maybe the sound would be better if stainless? Ah I'm so disappointed! Thoughts?

1 inch = ~25 mm. I think most people have used 38-44mm. I heard 28-30mm and noticed a difference, but admittedly never heard one in person. Either way, I think you should still notice a difference. Have you heard it from outside or only in the cabin?

Did you watch them do it? Just want to make sure they did it right. Post a picture if you can.

25mm is tiny. You should get something closer to 40mm.
I had 38mm and there was a noticeable difference. I would go 44mm if I was to do it again.

Aluminum? How? They bolt it in or glue it in or something?

Wait. I think you mean aluminized steel? That is going to rust so badly.

Changing to stainless steel won't affect the sound.

I did 44mm. Great tone but wasn't loud enough for my liking but on the plus side it wasn't annoying whatsoever, I just didn't like the fact that I had to have my music off to be able to hear thget exhaust. That all changed when u added a 70mm test pipe

Add a test pipe, it will get a lot louder.

Hi guys-
Thanks for all your feedback. I added two links to show you what it looks like. I hope you can see it. It doesn't look as good as King Motorsports which I gave to the shop directions to mimic. I live in Arizona so rust isn't an issue. Besides me going with too small of a pipe (1 inch), do the pictures look right or does it look like these guys screwed up my car? I'm thinking about going back to the muffler shop and having them do a 1.50 inch which is closer to 38mm instead of the small 25mm.
I did drive today with top up and then with the top down. I could barely hear a difference which is why I'm so unhappy with the 1 inch. If you can see the pics, do you think they messed up and should have changed anything? I appreciate all your help. I just want to be able to hear my nice exhaust when I want to.

Thank you,
Marc

Definitely go back an get the 38mm. I have it on my 07. Nice extra growl on start, stockish idle, and much better sound on the highway.

There's a whole variety of by-pass pipe diameters for this modification including You-tube videos. But darned if I can tell the sound differences in the videos (probably because mics use sound limiting) but bigger must be louder (better?). Without hearing the mod from inside the car it's hard to decide.

Has anyone determined if there's any performance gain with this mod. Noise gain for sure, but is it doing anything else.
