man a lot of the ones you guys posted are great...shoulda probably updated this thread by now...I ended up getting some black RPF1's this spring

I've been thinking a lot about this same question, I have a Sebring Silver and AP2V1's that I am planning to paint early next year. I was leaning black over gunmetal because I don't think gunmetal is distinct enough against SS. But then I saw some pictures from a user on the forums here, LiquidTek. I think his choice is probably my favorite. Hope he doesn't mind me linking some of his pictures:
It's called blue ice explosion, although it clearly has a purple hue under the correct lightning. I think it looks amazing, just the right amount of flare but not too obnoxious. May end up doing the same thing.

I don't mind. The color is pretty amazing that it has so many variations of color in different lighting. At times it appears a dark blue and other times can appear as purple-ish. We like to call it blurple.
