Default Apexi VAFC 2

I've got a friend who is willing to sell his VAFC2 (unopened) to me for cheap.

I noticed on Apexi's website that I don't think they carry it anymore and I think theres something new. I was just wondering if I should get the new AFC NEO(if it'll work) or get the VAFC2? Has anyone had any experience with the AFC NEO?

I also wanted to know if the VAFC2 will work with SOHC vtec engines such as the f23a1 or only DOHC? At this time, I will be running it in my s2k.

Lastly, I should be fine with running nitrous with it since it doesn't advance timing... Am I correct on this?

if your running nitrous your better off getting a tuning device that can also retard timing such as the greddy e-manage. if your spraying 75 or more your gonna wanna retard your timing and add some fuel.

Im only gonna run a 50 shot and 75 shot only during track days so I don't need to change my timing.

After I put on my 68mm skunk2 throttle body, I've been having problems with idle and other things. I've adjusted everything like 20 times. I think my AFR is just out of whack cause I went too big on the throttle body. I should have got the 66m. I figured I could tune it so its right. Im also gonna throw on a test pipe too and I figured I'd just get 1 to tune everything.

I've heard a couple of bad things about the greddy e-manage from what I searched on it. any feedback on them?

actually I've heard nothing but good about the e-manage. unlike the vafc you can adjust partial throttle and timing and has much more fuel settings. If I were you would still go ahead and get the e-manage and an aem wideband. that way you can monitor your afr at all times, which is extremely important when running nitrous. save the money and do it right the first time, you will not regret it.

good advice. I'll have to look around to see if I can pick 1 up for a decent price.

One more question. Does it come with a harness or will I have to splice into the wires or spend a bunch of money on a harness?

the harness is only about 150. and brand new the regular e-manages are about 300. make sure you have a good tuner local in your area. if you don't want to spend the money on a harness you can just have the tuner splice it into the ecu. its not as messy as you think.
