Thumbs up Backyard Special fitment questions

Hey guy's just took delivery this very morning of a Backyard Special carbon cooling plate and carbon airbox cover. I still have yet to fit but i was wondering if it was possible to also add a snorkle to this set up to channel air in from the front grill. Im looking for something that will fit with the new parts without major modification's. I do not wish to cut the bonnet either.

Cheers and thanks

Dave

u cant fit a snorkle unless the cooling plate has a cut out for it. If it does go ahead and order a spoon or j's snorkel. I got a replica spoon snorkle in carbon kevlar off ebay for 200$. I can settle with not paying 200$ more for the spoon name.

I was going to blend the snorkle into the bottom of the cooling plate is this possible ? It is the type with the funnel style thing on top into the airbox and in that case the snorkle wont be seen. so material used will not matter.

Hey guy's just fitted my backyard special carbon cooling plate and airbox cover. Might i say the fit was great and quality outstanding it just goes to show you usually do get what you pay for.

The only question i have is if i was ment to remove the black plastic stock cover that would be below the cooling plate to let cool air in ?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers

Dave

I would suggest that you do remove the black plstic piece. This way the air is free flowing and is directed by the cooling plate.

There was a huge thread on whether removing the OEM cooling plate would be detrimental or not. People made diagrams of the air flow of hot and cold air with and without the cover. There was no no conclusion, only opinions. Do a search and the thread might pop up. You can read through it and decide after you've attained all the info.

yes you should remove the oem plastic cover for the backyard special cooling plate to be functional. this plate will allow cool air to the oem airbox and keep your radiator cool too. I want to buy this backyard special air box cover. Can you post some pictures of this air box cover? I need to see the back side and the weight of this. The only picture I have is from bulletproof. I think this cover looks alot better than the aut one.
