odyssey 925 relocated to trunk works great. cranks the car easily at 10 degrees farhenheit, runs the 800 amp with no problems, half the size and weight of stock. Only downfall is a bit pricey. mine is 2 years old and going strong. car usually sets for 5 days to 2 weeks between drives no trickle charging needed yet.

 

you don't want to go to far out of the OEM spec for CCA since the alternator is cored to charge the battery with a specific CCA

So the Odyssey 925 will be overkill for your alternator and if you go for short drives will cause issues.

It doesn't take a genius to realize that a Braille, like many other mini drycell batteries, is a rebadged Deka battery. It is simply amazing that a company, even with all of the savvy internet folks out there, can put a fancy logo and brass terminals on a battery and mark it up threefold.

There isn't a need to look for anything else beyond a Deka for the money and reputation. I've bought mine off Ebay for less than $60 shipped and they've never failed me. I actually started off years ago with an ETX14 and downsized to an ETX12.

 

I just replaced my stock OEM battery with the 51R Kirkland Signature battery from costco. So far so good!

 

OEM. $100 and 6 years. I thought about braille, but it would amount to double the cost and half the life if I'm lucky... which means 4Xs the cost compared to OEM.

 

i am on my 2nd optima in a year.....oem was much better; i've run optimas in the last 3 cars (red top) and for some reason this (yellow top) hates my s2k

How many pounds of power cable did it take to relocate the battery to the trunk?

 

A large battery won't put more load on the alternator than a small battery. The total AH will be the same regardless of the size of the battery. However a small dry cell will pull those AH at a much quicker rate (instant amps) than a larger battery.
