Berk High Flow Cat
All,
I plan to fit my '08 AP2 with a Berk HFC and a Flashpro in the fall so I can get Gernsby to do a retune to engage the VTEC at 4,000 rpm or below.
I'm concerned about losing the head shields and saw this thread

Is there someone I can have a Berk HFC dropped shipped to that would weld the tabs on the cat?

Thanks,

Hi Chris --
The passenger floor gets hot enough with heat shields to consider running without them.
That's my cat on my back porch. Been on the car all season without problems. Heat shields took some trimming to fit but it's all hand tools.
Buddy of mine fit the same cat and welded the tabs himself on the shipping dock where he works. Finding the scrap stainless steel to make the tabs is probably the hardest part assuming you are or know a good welder. We both fitted new heat shields as the old ones can be rusted solid onto the stock cat.

You don't need the heat shields on the cat, as long as ones on the floor of the chassis are intact, you're good to go. I don't notice the cabin getting any hotter.
There's also little to no smell emitted from the exhaust, so you won't have to worry about cops thinking you don't have a cat if that's what you're worried about.
