Default best short ram intake

CAI is great of course, but can't deal with the possibility of hydrolock. can you guys recommend a short that sounds GREAT, but doesn't cost much?

thanks

k&N FIPK is the way i went. sounds amazing and looks good. I paid something like $260 shipped but recently i've seen it go for a little less. K&N claims a ~10whp (includes a dyno sheet with the kit) at around vtec. That's highly suspect IMHO but who knows. In short, I give this intake a .

The OEM intake is a shortram intake (in a box). Take the lid off. It'll accomplish the same "hot air sucking" abilities as an aftermarket shortram intake.

A K&N FIPK is not a "hot" air intake. It is sealed with the hood when closed, making its own self contained box that shields against engine bay heat.
Taking the lid off the OEM airbox or getting an "open" aftermarket short ram is totally different. Those draw air from within the engine bay - HOT air.

The best "cheap" intake you'll find is the K&N FIPK. Its not the pretiest looking, but it makes very good power compared to a lot of the others.

I know. I said that because i've read many posts on the board saying the FIPK is a "hot air intake". My response was mainly in jest and didn't mean to imply anything about your post. The Heatshield (airbox) of the FIPK is of great construction and design. Also having the filter placed in the corner helps. I have nothing but great things to say about this intake. It's also a fun and easy mod to perform that yields positive results. especially the sound it makes at WOT.

or u can do what i did. build a heat shield around the filter with the stock
air box. almost like a k&n and still able to use my cooling panel.

I am a great fan of K&N FIPK systems. If this was available at the time, I would have prefered this over the AEM.
