oh and the hfc really has no downside at all. if you want to get very technical, yes, it is illegal as you're not supposed to replace your cat without a mechanics consent or past 50k miles, but it will pass the smog sniffer test, and it looks just like any other cat so it passes the visual too.

i've smogged my car with my berks hfc, passed with flying colors. I know several others who have as well. it's the straight / test pipes you have to worry about.

and the hfc performs within 1.1 hp and tq of its test pipe counterpart...pretty much all the performace and nothing illegal or smelly.

Go to the Sponsors Engine and Drivetrain forum, Asura is now custom fabricating 70mm HFCs. I bought one, hopefully it'll get here soon
nice! I want it! this is basically the only thing my n/a build is missing for the engine. the 63 is nice, but a 70mm hfc and retune will be much better.

It is listed for an 06-08 and I have heard of ppl with 08 getting it done. I do not know if it covers all MY08's or not as you do need to have a certain ECU part number.

Per hondata website:
Any 06 through 08 S2000 with the ECU part numbers found on the bar code on the side of the ECU:

37820-PZX-A09 through A14

I was pretty much set on the berk hfc until I saw this.

I will evenually (maybe 6mo-1year down the line) get a 70mm exhaust, so I figure a 70mm HFC would be perfect. I do want to get the HFC first, so I really want to see how it will perform with stock exhaust. As soon as I see dyno of Asura HFC I will be ready to buy.

I have heard a lot of good things about a geared s2k but I am worried about a few downsides.

1.) worse gas mileage
2.) losing some freeway power
3.) I would like to keep mods more basic

If I were to ever gear it I would probably go with 4.44 to make it a less drastic change.

Thanks for all the great responses Hero....

I am also pretty confident that the intake will work on an 08, but I would like at least one person with an 08 to confirm it. I know that honda always tweaks the s2k slightly every two years, so I need to make sure that there is nothing that would prevent it from working on my car. I searched everywhere and none seem to list it for an 08, and no s2000 forum can seem to confirm anything more then "it should work".

the nice bolt on mods are gears, testpipe/highflowcat, and vafc. the cheapest and best performing...

Looking to buy a HFC this weekend. I am weighing out 2 options:

63mm berk HFC
or
70mm asura HFC

Again, I am going to buy the HFC first then later on I will by a cat back exhaust. I have not decided whether I will get a 70mm or 63mm cat back yet or even if I will buy an exhaust at all, so with that in mind do you recommend for my HFC decision?
