Default Broken Outer CV- solution

Recently snapped my outer CV at the drags, launched good n hard.
All my options seemed excessive. Since my axles are still only 70k kms I didn't want to put on a 2nd hand axle in fear of vibration.
OEM would have cost me 410 plus fitting if purchased online, the next option was 2nd hand shaft and taking off just the outer CV but these are expensive here in australia.
Went to a local driveshaft shop and askd what they could do, turns out the odyssey/euro (acura TSX unsure if CL9 or CU2) (year unspecified) has the same internal and external spline as the s2000.
a spacer was used to push the ABS tone wheel out by 4mm, and then a bit of machining on a lathe to ensure it wouldnt bind on the hub. all up costed $300 installed on the shaft.

just thought i would give back to you guys!

Fitting an axle is very easy to do and doesn't take very long if your mechanically inclined. I would say easier than making a custom part to save 100$

At the time my options were to import an axle which was doable, but I would be getting an axle with unknown km's unknown condition of inner CV, and it would be an old piece prone to snapping in the same way mine did.
I did not pay to have the axle fitted, it was just to have the CV installed on the driveshaft, my friend put the axle on for me since it was towed to his place due to proximity from the track. plus for the price of bringing in an axle from overseas, it was comparable to this.

Very much, the wait to get the part in and shipping though were pretty insane. I don't consider getting another used part to be doing it right though.
all in all the machining to create clearance probably wasn't necessary just precautionary in case it did have issues.

I think those with do it right type comments meant just buy a new Honda oem part, which you said cost $410 AU. Thats not a lot more than you paid for a potentially weaker part from a different Honda model that required mods to fit the S.

Sorry that is not inclusive of shipping and CV installation and 11 days to order that part. If the part was available on shelf for 400 bucks I would have loved to go grab it and just chuck it on myself. one place had it in stock for the low price of 690 AUD.

The woes of living on a large island away from everything else where any saving found overseas is nullified by shipping... i feel your pain...
