Default broken cv half shaft at axle nut

So, my rear wheel bearing on the pax right is going out. So, i decided to get to it tonight and find that my axle nut isn't secure anymore (the metal ring around it that gets hammered into the cavity of the axle wasn't there.. So, it spun)
Figured i'd try getting it off and continue on with the replacement.

Unfortunately it didn't go as easily. There was a moment where the axle nut wouldn't move with regular strength, so the breaker bar came out.

Well, it came off a little too easily. AND with a 1/4" of the cv shaft still in the axle nut.

S2000 is down now.

A hub and bearing replacement turned into hub/bearing/half shaft.

Before i go for a rockauto half shaft, has anyone ever had to replace one?

This was a tad confusing, but one hell of a blessing since it didn't decide to cleave off while driving it today. Would have been a much different thread **parting out ap1** . .

Couldn't find jack sh on handa.com

Suggestion on if i should go rockauto or look for a totaled s2000?

A number of us have had the problem. You have to replace the outer CV joint. An expensive part but not terribly difficult.

Was seriously thinking no one would respond to this thread!

Right, so i am likely to replace my half shafts with rockauto stuff and just rebuild the broken one with oem at a later time. You weren't kidding on cost there. I just need to get the thing moving so i can finish up my hubs/bearings and get it in storage soon.

Much appreciated!

I wouldn't go with Rockauto. I'd go with Ballade Sports. Trusted and used by many.

I'd even go with a used one, as long as it's properly vetted.

Its known that aftermarket axles for this car are junk. You'll get nasty vibrations and other issues. You need oem axles.

You can get used axles. You can get rebuilt axles (Ballade). You can have a local rebuilder rebuild your axles (if you can find one). You can replace the outer cv yourself.

Just don't buy aftermarket axles. Rock Auto sometimes sells oem parts. If the ones they are selling are oem, fine.
