The fan my tuner was using was a jet fan (a fan with a very narrow (about 2" high by 24" wide) and shoved it into the mouth of the car (shooting right into the intercooler.)

I wanted to know if the cooling plate works, since my filter is right by the AUT opening, and guess what? It was BLASTING air into my filter. This effect would be 10 times as powerful at highway speeds.

I then blocked the AUT opening with my hand, and the intake temps began to rise (the sensor was placed directly on my K&N filter).

Even my tuner was surprised!
awesome!.. you made me even happier about my purchase..good test to try..thanks for the information!

Although I have nothing to actually show you guys, my tuner and I proved, that the AUT cooling plate does a great job of shoving cold air into the engine bay. Cooling plates are NOT heatsinks, so their conducting properties don't mean anything.
Funny, Billman said the exact opposite at Tech Day yesterday.

I AM NOT taking sides .................. I have an AUT.

You don't have to take my word for it. If you have an AUT plate, try it yourself. Stick a fan into the mouth of the car, and feel the opening on the AUT (assuming you took the stock plate out.)

The way the s2000 was designed, it that cold air goes over the top of the motor, forcing hot air down, and sucked out from the bottom. The AUT does just that, blows a stream of cold air right across the top of the motor.

I am not defending it, but I know what I saw/felt, and am very happy with mine. Take my info any way you wish.
