CF cooling plates
I see alot of people buy carbon fiber cooling plates to cool.
I thought carbon fiber wasn't the best heat conductor.
the carbon fiber that we buy (basica woven ones) are supposed to block out heat. they use it on intakes so the heat doesn't affect the inner chamber. the type of cf that are used for automobiles (so far) are a poor heat conductor.

Thanks for that. Is this a rant about carbon fiber as a cooling plate material, or cooling plates in general?

I'm lost, are you asking a question, was that a quote from somebody or what?
The radiator panels are to keep air from escaping the radiator (the car does have a stock one actually), essentially forcing the air to cool the coolant moreso than if the air was to just flow into the engine bay. They are questionable on both sides of the fence and up to the user to decide. I think most people get them as show pieces in all honesty.
EDIT: I just reread your post, are you talking about the panel that attaches to the front of the motor to block heat from the exmani and motor?

You know people get those for looks

example, people buy a $1,000 air intake for like 4hp.

Although I have nothing to actually show you guys, my tuner and I proved, that the AUT cooling plate does a great job of shoving cold air into the engine bay. Cooling plates are NOT heatsinks, so their conducting properties don't mean anything.
