Default Comptech header thumbsup

So on Monday I'll finally be installing my comptech header, so I have the rest of the week to tweak my tune before the AutoX on saturday. I did search, but wading through post after post I never saw dyno's... hell even butt dyno guesses at gains NA.

Just wondering if anyone has any personal NA experience with the comptech 4-1, either tuned (preferably) or untuned.

Just trying to guage what I'll get out of this thing, I suspect a lot will be in the mid-range by design but... I'm not quite sure.

Thanks

Have you tried emailing ct-engineering? I emailed them in the past and was quickly sent a dyno of their intake. They should have one on file since they mention it under the S2000 header/ exhaust description.

I believe there is some information on this site about the header which I came across when I was searching for a header. From what I gather it doesn't do much on a N/A setup. I read one statement where CT/Comptech said it was designed to compliment their S/C kit. The long tube 4-1 design shouldn't give any mid range gains. The long tubes dont' scavenge well in low to mid range rpms, it might be a top end performer. I like the look of the header though. The Mugen style of header design is what provides mid-range gains, small equal length 4-2-1 piping.

The Comptech header is a 4-1 which was designed for their supercharger system. For NA applications you're probably looking at 1-3 hp.

I know it was designed it with [their] S/C applications in mind, which is why I bought it [and it being probably the best of CARB legal solutions].

It would seem to me that by having my AF/R's leaner than stock, and creeping downward through the powerbad having the less constricting collector/merge at low-mid rpm leanness would free up a lot of restriction, especially since everything after that point on my setup is 3". So no one with any personal NA experience?

So it's installed and all I can say is

Keep in mind I'm not stock, and I already was tuned before. I need to get on a dyno to see if my butt is lying or not. If my car wasn't already wake the dead loud, then now it might just be. I'm not complaining at all.... I have to give that the female test though

Like I said this initial impression is far from just bolting on, as I have vtec lowered to 4500 from before and my timing up to about 29.5 degrees in the high cam. But I've never done a 3rd gear pull from 2k, uphill no less, that fast . Across my entire powerband, is just wow. I'll update with my impressions after hawking over my flashpro and [hopefully] getting on a dyno.

That being said, I can see how this manifold might not be ideal if untuned. Alas, I am and couldn't be happier right now

Me too man

Purely by throttle response I can tell that if you were just to slap this on a stock or perhaps untuned but modded S, you might not see that much especially in the low/lower middle powerband. In that scenario, I could still see it unlocking a lot of top end power. With vtec lower though, and running a nice tapering AFR I can see that the larger primaries, collector definitely unlock lower end power when tuned. I think with as lean as I'd run naturally, 3" behind it, and the tune a 4-1 setup might just be a great idea, whereas the 4-2-1 might see more bolt-on gains utilizing a more stock setup.

But this is all butt dyno impressions and through my throttle experience. I do intend to post something more tangible though.
