Default Convertible latch and whistling

Hey fellas

Had whistling noise so purchased hard top latches and installed it. Definitely demolished that noise.

However upon latching, it seems very tight! No problem this far but does anyone know how tight it should be or should not be so I don't get other problems?

Thanks guys.

Not sure if this is the right place to post sorry.

On my soft top I was able to put 2 shims on each latch (shims from gladman fabrication) and I have not had any problems, I find that one latch does up easier than the other but it could be that they need adjusting a little bit. Windows still go up and down fine, however as I tinted my side windows the tint is peeling off a little bit from going up and down against the rubber seals, I hope this helps

Hey mate thanks for the reply. Yeah I can't seem to find the shims!

UPDATE on the situation - The noise is still there!!! I spoke way to early!

I notice that the convertible top is sitting over the front windshield (a little bit) and there is a gap

I think thats where the noise is coming from.

Washed the car today and the water went through that hole and into the cabin! Upsetting.

Will try to adjust and let you guys know. Thanks.

I get water leaking through the corners where the roof meets the windscreen and the side windows, the shims did help slow it down a bit but it still happens. Currently have not found a fix for that!

UPDATE

So tonight I went out side to have a play around it.

It went down like this-

Undid the latches, and went out side the car (top still up but not connected) and had a look around to see how it was sitting alongside the windscreen.
My findings here was that it was STILL sitting on top of the windscreen. However, going back inside the car, I manually pulled down the roof before latching it back up.

It worked. It sat in nice, firm and smooth. But only the driver side.

Undid the latches again, raised the top half way so I have it standing 90 degress, for me to inspect.

My findings here was that the Passenger side latch was a bit loose. tightening that up didn't help all that much.

However, After multiple times of closing and opening the top, and during each closeI forcefully adjusted the passenger's side of the top to sit flush alongside with the windshield, it got easier.

In conclusion to this update, every time I close the top I have to manually pull it down that little bit more to make it sit flush prior to locking it in!

Everything 'looks' great right now, but I will let you guys know tomorrow night after testing it out

Thanks.

Glad that its a getting sorted! I forgot to mention with mine (UK RHD) I find that the passenger side latch is easier to do up and then I do the drivers side, also some of the screws came a bit loose and had to be tightened up, that might be worth looking at when you next get a chance

UPDATE!

All fixed!

Basically have to manually pull it down that extra bit before locking the top up. This will make it sit more flush at the same time - Won't be feeling like its hard to lock, remove wind noise and removing the entry for water when I was washing the s2k!

Thanks for helping SMG1990!

My setup is currently without shims and just using hard top latches.
