Cooling Mods for 2006+
Ok guys im looking for a few cooling mods for MY08 S2000 but all of them seem to be for 2000-2005 S2000's. Does any body know what brands are for 2006+ S2000's and where can I find them? Im looking for Fan Switch, Radiator, Low Temp Thermostat, and Hoses.
The '06+ doesn't use a fan switch, since the ECU controls them. I believe the radiator caps are the same for all models, but the later AP2's seem to have slightly higher temp thermostats (based on the stamp on the thermostat). I believe the hoses would probably be the same too, but you could tell that by looking up the Honda part numbers on hondaautomotiveparts.com.
You really should NOT go with a colder thermostat unless you are having overheating problems. As long as you aren't overheating or getting pre-ignition / detonation due to excessive coolant temps, then the engine will make more power with hot coolant than it will with cold coolant. You definitely don't want the coolant any colder than it needs to be, since cold coolant just robs the combustion chamber of precious heat that would otherwise be pushing down on the pistons.
The only valid use for a cold thermostat / fan switch is for people that aren't getting enough cooling (detonation, etc.), and can't afford to get a better radiator. Basically, it's a bandaide.

Gernby,
I responded too quickly and thus deleted my post after reading your post a 2nd time. I misunderstood what you said initially. You're correct.
I was going to say that lowering the coolant temp has benefits of cooler intake charges and some other benefits, but all else being equal, a hotter combustion chamber will make more power.

I agree that you want the intake charge to be as cold as possible. I also think a cold spart plug tip is good as long as it doesn't foul out.
I resent the aftermarket vendors for flooding the performance world with cold thermostats. I imagine most people buy them in hopes that they will increase power, but they are really just reducing power, reducing fuel economy, increasing pollution, and increasing wear.
