Default Cusco 4 or 5 point cage

My shop sent me a pic of the rollcage getting installed and my current 7/8 height windscreen is rubbing the sides of the cage. Is this normal? Do most people just run the shorter oem one? I am having them shave the sides in order to keep the taller one to avoid extra turbulence with the top down! On a side note, this is a 4 point bar so Im not worried about hitting my head (the way you would if it were a full cage) if in an accident so no need to bring up that whole argument.

Heres you "dead weight" safty 21 bar after a 70+ foot fall off the road. It looks like the only part of the car that held up. Notice how none of the bars broke off and hit him in the head, I would say that that works pretty darn good for a "show purpose" roll bar. I know welded bars are better, but you guys really underestimate the cusco/safty21 bars.

WOW!!!!!!!!you are kidding me

woah that does look like S2000GT's car up above. the roll bar held up, but did it actually help this driver from serious harm?
Looking at the pictures, I'd say it did. The stock rollbar (which is the windshield frame) is clearly bent while the rollbar is in good shape. If anything it helped keep his head out from the ground. to the rollbar for that

Hope the guy is ok as well!

That isn't s2000gt's car is it?!?!? I hope the driver was ok.

BTW, nice post... looks like the roll bar held up great , look at the windshield!
Yes it is and I took those pics.

The only thing on that car that wasn't tweaked was the roll bar.

People who say these bars and cages are dead weight have never seen an accident like this. I saw it first hand, and that roll bar saved his life. $600-$1,000 is a lot of money, but after that accident a roll bar or cage will definitely be my next mod. Hopefully Lee's wife will let him come back in September.

Rather than worry about the wind messing up your hair, I think I'd worry about what happens to your hair when that thing folds flat in a roll-over and the rear "brace" punches a hole through your skull.

Huh really? If you notice the roll bar is intact. Please find me an example of what you are describing.

Who said anything about hair? I added a photo to the top for other people who might be just as misinformed as you.

Either shave it (as you had the shop do) or go to OEM or none. No big deal.

Except that was a freak accident, in itself, and happened over 6 years ago. No pictures showed where the bar is mounted to the chassis to verify the level of impact it took.

Also, I could show you an incident where a fully welded cage punched thru the floors, it doesn't mean that cages welded to the floor are unsafe, likewise, a single incident where the cusco survived an impact doesn't mean it works.

So, before you go off dismissing people who are looking out for YOUR BEST INTERESTS, maybe you should do a bit more research on cage design, instead of referencing some random freak accident that doesn't really prove anything. At least be prepared to have people try to give you some advice when you post a cusco/safety 21 bar, before you brush them off as "misinformed".

And to the question you asked, why don't you trim the deflector a little? I'm sure a dremel and some patience will fix that issue pretty easily. Put some masking tape down to trace your cut, and go at it

Lets see it! I have yet to see any pics opposing my thoughts. Also, before I "brushed him off as misinformed," I clearly addressed this matter in the original post, but since it was obviously disregarded, I posted the pics. Maybe you should research my original post? I had the shop doing the install shave the sides, but was wondering if anybody else had done this before since I could not find any pics of a 7/8 size wind deflector in use with a 4/5 point bar!
