I don't think he should install a resonator until he's sure it's needed. I would design for one to be added later

It's not worth it, trust me I've done it. Just find one you like and buy it. If I saved 200$ I could have bought the Berk 3inch system which is what I really want.

For a resonator try this one
http://www.moroso.com/catalog/catego...?catcode=35054
I have the Moroso on my supercharged V6 and it got rid of most(85%) of the drone that the car had with a 3" exhaust.

As for mufflers these sound fantastic on my V6 and I've heard them on V8's, you get a very deep tone that is not to loud(no tickets in 8 years here in CA.) How would they sound on the "S" ? I don't know but I think they would sound as good as they do on other cars. One more thing, if you want a exhaust that does not sound like all the others you have to put different mufflers on the car. If it was me I would buy one and see what it sounds like, if you like it get one more(if you go with dual exhaust) if you don't like it sell it on-line.

You can get these in Polished Stainless if you want.

This is the setup that I have had for 8 years and it sounds the same today as it did when they were first put on, with no packing to burn out the tone stays the same year after year.

I'm thinking that drone comes automatically with loud. Your best bet might come down to doing something custom with other stock mufflers if you don't care for the OEM's that came with the S. Perhaps OEM mufflers from other mfg roadster 4 bangers if you wanted to experiment.

I don't think you understand what drone is. I cut the OEM mufflers off my OEM AP2 exhaust, and replaced them with 2 Magnaflow mufflers. The result was a nice sounding exhuast that wasn't very loud, but it droned like a MOFO while cruising at ~3K RPMs after the mufflers broke in. However, when I tested a 70 mm ASM single on my car, it had virtually no drone at all at 3K RPMs, but was MUCH louder at full throttle.

The issue has to do with resonance and harmonics. An exhaust system is much like a brass instrument (tuba, trombone, etc.), and every design will have a natural resonance where it will be MUCH louder. If the resonance occurs at 3K RPMs, it's going to drone really bad while cruising at 3K RPMs. However, if the resonance occurs at 2K RPMs, you won't ever experience it during normal driving.

What exactly is drone? Is it the raspy sound that comes from low displacement motors with unrestricted aftermarket exhaust systems? Please clarify.
