Default custom hardtop?

I'm think'n about designing and fabricating my own hardtop. It will be more for aesthetics than structural. Perhaps vacuum form it in sections and then assembled and make the clear portion with plexiglass. I can probably use the soft top latch mounting points for the front and use the roll hoops for rear attachment as opposed to the OEM strikers.

Anyway, just a concept for now.

Added 11/24: more revised concept, hinged sunroof, LED brakelight integration

Yeah, it does kind of look funny. I only took 15min to do the CAD model to show the concept but my idea is to have a targa-style hard top. The new automotive trends are leaning towards large sun roofs.

Even companies who make brand name knock off hardtop have a hard time with fitment... so good luck with the project.

BTW, what is up with all these people making home made parts for their S2000 these days? Is modifying an S2000 really that too expensive these days that people are turning to Home Depot to make there own mods?

New hardtops are usually 3-6k new. I know I dont have that kind of money for them. S2000s are cheap now so everyone who owns one isnt Baller. If you have the know how, I say do it

speak for yourself
some people just like fabricating things on their own. I don't think people fabricating their own parts truly amounts to the assumption that s2000 owners aren't well off.
