/\ I didnt assume that, I said not everyone can afford a new hardtop. Most people like to customize there S and quote "if you have the know how, do it"

Seriously good luck with your project. If I could suggest a different approach...

I think a surrey top would be a cool option. Basically a hardtop with a targa roof. It would have the option of a hardtop security but with the ability to store the targa in the trunk for topless driving. Here is what one looks like on an old British roadster:

Could it not be easier to get a cheap ebay knock-off then modify that? would help with fitment more and give you a solid base?!
