Thumbs up Dang delayed clutch

Question for you guys. I had a '01 S and recently just purchased an '05. I love it but I noticed that on a redline shift to 100% throttle the car seems like the clutch is slipping, but I don't bounce of the redline and it seems to grab after a second or so... Not anything like I have experianced with a slipping clutch, usually you have to lift out to let it catch then tip in again. Car only has 18k on it and doesn't show a sign of having a rough life before me so I really don't think the clutch is bad...

Little bit of research and it sounds like the AP2 cars got a clutch slave with a delay built in and I am thinking that is what I am seeing, because the car acts "normal" everywhere else except that hard gear changes. I do recall my '01 being a bit harsher on the engagement when cruising around unless you put like 4-5k rpm into it before the shift, where the '05 seems find with sub 3krpm shifts.

What I am wondering does a AP1 clutch slave bolt into the car and will that address, what I am assuming is, the delay making the clutch seem like it is slipping that I am seeing at redline?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, the ap1's will fit. It's a common swap, if you don't want to remove the cdv yourself. And yes, it'll fix your problem.

Follow the DYI and remove the delay valve, no need for a new slave unit

It will bolt on. Or you can remove the CDV from your current.

The CDV is not the only problem though. If you would like to actually "fix" the clutch slip that you notice in AP2's... you need to purchase an ap1 flywheel or any lighter flywheel. The ap2 flywheel is too heavy for the clutch on fast shifts.

Thanks guys! I figured it wasn't the only thing needed but a step in the right direction. I am going to see about just removing the CDV and see where it's at. The heavy fly will help keep the revs up, but also takes a bit more to get spinning!

Should be easy enough to do!
