Default DIY front bumper lip protector

My S2K has had a Coastal Metals lip protector on it for the better part of the last 18 years. Here's an older snap showing the front lip protector in better days. It really worked well as the bumper lip has no scratches or gouges after all these years. They're no longer available and mine was too chewed up to try to restore.

So I've taken a que from the 997 owners who use an inexpensive way to protect their aero kits front lips.

I ordered the Sportwing Dawn 16' roll 1F7 classic silver edge guard DGAR16-HG for $25.27 shipped. There are a good number of color options. This, as said, to replace an old Coastal Metals lip protector that finally took enough abuse that it had become a bit of an eyesore.

Here are some pictures taken with my cellphone of the results. Color match is quite decent. Don't know why the first two seem to show a wiggle in the application near the driver's side faux brake cooling intake. The area is just fine.

The Porsche 997 owners have said that theirs has lasted a good number of years and had taken the impact of curbs and road depressions saving their low riding aero kit lips. If it works for them....

Wow, cool. This is sure to help many. Excellent tip!

I just have one question:

Did you shave your head or did it all fall out?

Bob, is your car Silverstone or Sebring? Looking at the available colors for my SSM and thinking its either 1F7 or Silver #42.

Dave, mine is Sebring Silver.

Curious, did you ever get a Honda UK 4 wheel alignment developed for the 00-03 AP1s done on your '00?

Oh if it isn't obvious, a 16' roll is good for two applications on our S2Ks. I should have mentioned it in my opening post....
