Default OEM style lip install problems

I'm trying to install my front lip but I can't figure out exactly how... With the lip, I recieved 4 brackets and many little screws. I thought some how I could just bolt on the lip to the bumper when its off the car but it looks like I actually have to have it on the car. See below..

Also, I purchased some 3M double sided tape. Where do I apply this? There no area of this lip that is flat against the bumper (only edges).

Here is the bottom of the lip

bottom of my bumper

brackets and bolts I recieved

How I plan on installing the brackets... With this way I bolt the lip to the bumper using the bracket AND the screws going to the bottom of the car. Also this also makes a little gap between the bumper and the lip.. is this normal? Note, the lip HAS to be on the car when using the brackets like this.

Heres are the money shots. Don't mind the old couch, its in the basement.

Fitment is not TOO bad.

is this a OEM lip?? we recently installed an OEM AP1 lip on my sons car - - your brackets don't look the same - - and we didn't use any double sided tape on his.

My '05 AP2 OEM lip came with the double sided tape already in place.

anyhow - looks like you've got it installed - - good job

Looks can be deceiving! It actually is just placed on there.. No bolts in what so ever.

Its not OEM, its OEM STYLE. Meaning that its a knock off.

Yes the bumper has to be on the car when installing. Some of the bolts that hold the bumper on are covered up when the lip is installed.

In this picture:

See that hole on the left, with the OEM lip there are speed clips that slide in there and then the supplied bolts for the lip secure to that. There are about 5 of these under neath the lip and then 2 on each far end inside the wheel well. The ones in the fender are self tapping screws.

Your kit seems to have come with nuts and bolts and I can only guess that those brackets belong in between the nut and bolt in the same place the OEM speed clips belong.

Good luck.

The double sided tapes serves two purposes, to provide additional adhesive and to provide a small space between the lip and bumper. An OEM lip will have the double sided tape already adheased to the lip.
