Default Do You Remove L Bracket on Modified Air Box ?

Hi all, on my MY02 that I recently purchased the previous owner must have modified the stock air box. The internal divider was cut away. The L-shaped 90 degree intake bracket/tube was left in it though. I've searched a few posts on this modification, but I'm not sure if removing the 90 degree internal tube is of any use. Should you remove this piece as well ?. I seen some guys do and others don't. Looking at it I'm not sure that it represents much of a restriction in terms of size and airflow. But any opinions on this would be appreciated. thanks very much.

I'd keep it in, it directs the air straight into the filter.

ah, thanks for the replies fellas, much appreciated. Yeah looking at the box it doesn't look overly restrictive and I guess it does direct the air to the filter which is good. I'll keep it the way it is then, thanks for the quick replies on this.

My car came with some type of cooling plate, the internal box divider wall was opened up but the L bracket was left in place. I drove it home in torrential rains the day I got the car for about 2 hours on the highway, when I got home I checked the air filter and the box was bone dry, not even a drop of water in the entire box, I think this is a good design.
