^^^Hmmm...even though they'd use the factory paint? I understand that the paint on my 9 year old car will be faded compared to this brand new painted fender....could I just wax the shit out of my car and get close?

you could get lucky and it will match up but you really need to get your door blended with the fender

check this link out to get an idea

You can get a brand new unpainted fender from Majestic Honda for about $275 shipped. Take it to a local shop you trust and have them color match it. It might even be cheaper this way and you will have a better match.

it will not match. I would almost be willing to throw money down on it. My 01 which is garaged and was never driven in the rain until I got it needed a new fender after the accident...factory Honda paint did not match and almost the entire side of the car had to be faded to make things look good.

might get lucky but just being honest. I would pay a shop to do it then they could fade the fender and blend the doors and possibly hood together.

good luck

we does paint at work and here are my opinion:

the certification you want is not ASE, you want the painter to be ppg/dupont certified no ase(think technician vs painter), that would be saying we want to fix your car but we have a boat mechanic license.

as far as i know honda's are using ppg based paint, not dupont. both are good company but the thing people don't know is that they have a WIDE range of line, you can get a sh-t dupont paint that i wouldn't even paint my garage door with to a high(er) end 500 dollar quart paint, without listing the line, i am assuming they are shooting cheap shopline/econo repair paint.

paint code match is a fancy way to say it will not blend in and we are not responsible. paint code match is the least you can do, it's like saying we are going to paint your fender and yes it will be a "silverstone" fender color, it's cheap when you are shooting the whole car but if you are doing panel repair, it's gonna stick out like a boner if you have anything metallic such as silverstone(flow will almost never match), or worse mica/pearl paint(spa/rio)

and no, wax doesn't add shine at all, i don't even know why people spent half a day waxing a car with oxidized and swirely paint when thye should buff and cut out the scratch and polish it then wax(sealer)

there's no cheap option when you want a quality finish

^^^Points taken.

BTW, e-mailed Majestic Honda on that fender deal. They don't ship due to the size of the part, and is therefore pick up only.

So...I'm gonna poke a little and see if he'll ship, but I'm gonna start looking at other options...
