Default Engine torque damper question

i've got puddy bracket and bought cheap ebay ETD.

got it today and i don't see how its damping works - from what i see its inside filed 3/4 with a white hard plastic.

is this OK or it's just piece of junk?

From what i've heard from other members on here say is that most of the ETD on the market are the "damper" is actually a solid link. No moving parts inside just a solid piece connecting the engine to the shock tower and allowing no movement of the engine. I have the Ingalls ETD which actually does use a true shock damper thats also adjustable on how stiff you prefer the damping effect to be. I dunno if yours in junk or not but in this case being an ebay unknown brand it may be. I got my Ingalls ETD off Ebay from i forget what seller but i made an offer of $120 shipped and they accepted. I dunno if they accepted at that price on accident or not but i received it a few days after the offer was taken so worked out for me

The ETD is not like a fluid/gas filled shock that moves and "dampens" motor movement. In fact usually they are solid, filled maybe with some rubber/urethane bushings. Its designed to reduce the side to side shake of the motor under load. And E-bay, J's, Spoon, NRG all are designed the same, and have the same insides pretty much

Exploded view of an ETD. They're basically all the same. Some come with different inserts (hard / soft) so the damping amount can be adjusted.

So it looks like the piston pictures relies on the durometer of the bushings inside to provide the dampening. What would be so bad about using an actual piston/shock absorber that would provide linear resistance when pressure is applied to it? I assumed that's what ETD's were from the beginning!

OK - this is mine:

i see that for compression the parts marked by red are working - two white pieces push two black rubber pieces.

during extension one black rubber piece is squized against white piece.

in addition rubber bushings inside end links also do some work.

very smple.
too simple i would say.
