So i have been looking to buy a spare engine to get my car running until my engine has been built (if i decide what im actually wanting built) and haven't been able to find a single engine under 2 grand!

Are they really that expensive now? Or am i looking in the wrong places (ebay, gumtree etc). Anyone bought one recently that wants to chip in with what they paid?

Yeah they really are! I had to recently bite the bullet and shed out £2500 for a low mileage '03 engine. And that was for just bare engine no inlet or anything!

 

They are going stupidly expensive because of the demand for kit cars.

 

I paid 1800 I think of of salvage kings on ebay after a bit of haggling.

Everything was smooth , they were willing to take less if paid via credit card instead of going via eBay and paypal.

That's very cheap for a salvageable car, could use the engine, break and sell the rest and recoup most if not all of the £2k
