Exhaust modification
Hello, took one look at my AP1 standard exhaust system and the first world that came into my mind was "restrictive!", its crap.
So im ripping it all out and replacing it.
I was thinkin about doing the following:
1. Megan Manifold

2. Testpipe with a universal sports cat welded into it
3. Catback 2.5 driftspec system:

How well would this system fair?

There's been some positive things that's been said about the header. A test pipe with the exhaust should give you good gains from bigger piping, straighter airflow and lighter weight. The exhaust is also very angled if you're into that.
lol, if the OEM exhaust was so restrictive, then we would be seeing huge gains with a bolt on system, which we have yet to. On an mild n/a or unmodded car, the OEM exhaust is your best bang for the buck. I cant tell you how many times Ive read getting a exhaust for our cars is purely an aesthetic and aural upgrade.

My stock exhaust has a pipe that just branches out and does nothing!! Its a dead end. How is that not as restrictive as a straight through single out?

Exhaust will net minimal gains and will shed weight (probably its biggest advantage) same with the header. Removing the cat should get more gains, but I would recommend some kind of tuning to get the most from it

Beaten to the post
i have this setup including the Megan test pipe. I love it, I felt real gains over my Apex'i WSII which is what I had on before. I love the angle it has some will say its a bit extreme, only problem is some of the piping sits low so you really cant slam your car. I might be selling mine so you might want to hold up till then..lol
