Default Exhaust ruining paint on bumper! HELP!

Hey guys, I just bought my S2000 about 2 months ago. I have an 03 ap1 model. Its grand prix white (i think, its kind of a pearl color), with tan interior. Anyways, to get to the point...

I have Super Sprint dual exhaust. The heat from the exhaust is causing the paint above and to the outside of the exhaust to fade. I've seen online where you can buy the carbon fiber heat shields.

Does anyone have any experience with these or know anyone that has had them?... Or do you ahve any other products or recommendations?

I'll try to post some picks in a few days, but I can't at this time, sorry. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

That's pretty much your solution, or a different bumper *shrug*

Do they actually work though?...

What is a good body kit to buy for the ap1? For... about $1000 or less

So far the only thing I've seen you can get for an S2000 for $1000 or less is an air freshener.

Also, FYI: That discoloration may just be soot. It won't wash off with just soap and water. If you go to your local Autozone or similar and pick up a $10 claybar kit, you'll be surprised at how much of that comes off.

gt motoring sells a carbon fibre exhaust cap for the rear bumper which I put on my car, it could protect things from heat but it may wear out in the process, hard to say.

Spend some money on a better exhaust or go back to a stock exhaust, not a fan of that exhaust on this car.

it is simply soot. Like CKit stated, get a claybar kit, waxing helps prevent this.

Welcome to the world of owning a GPW S2000 with an aftermarket exhaust

I trade your ap1 gpw rear bumper with my gpw ap2 rear bumper with 2 carbon fiber heat shield. Where are you located? I'm in NC
