Default Full size spare tire

Hey all,

I have an AP1 with AP2 V1 wheels and an extra 17x7 front wheel. I was considering having a 215/45/17 tire mounted on the extra wheel and using it as a spare. Will it fit in the trunk and will it fit the front and rear?

It might fit but not where the spare tire is currently located. You would essentially wipe out what little trunk space you have.

The trunk is designed to hold a full size wheel/tire standing up after you remove the tool kit at the bottom

Yes, the front rims will fit all four hubs so your idea will work. Rear rims don't fit on the front hubs. They're designed this way to prevent mounting them wrong by mistake. The compact spare fits all hubs as well but should never be used in the rear. So your idea would give you a more practical spare at the expense of trunk space.

This seems like a silly idea. You would lose virtually all trunk space. You would have an unlimited front spare, but still have a limited rear spare. This seems like a marginal gain over the compact spare, for significant loss of usability (trunk space), and increase in weight out at the extreme end. Plus this spare wouldn't be secured. Free to bounce around hitting trunk lid etc (ok, that would require a serious bump in road, but still).

It jist seems like a lot of compromises for very little gain. When was the last time you even had a flat?

Its not a bad thing to have at home to put on to get the car to the tire shop after it is towed home or driven home on the space saver (always used on the front). But driving around with it all the time is a waste of trunk space as others said.
