Here is the deal. I have heard almost no S2000s with an exhaust. And I don't really trust the audio to be true on the videos. This makes it hard for me to justify spending $700-1200 for an exhaust (I don't want a used one). I want a stock look with ZERO rice sound. I was pretty happy with my exhaust with just the resonator removed. Then, sometime in the last month, it started sounding even better. It was a more raw sound, and did not sound like a leaky exhaust. I am just trying to get that sound back again.

Ok, so here is how to solve this problem.

1: Post your location in you profile so it shows up below your s/n
2: Go to your regional section and make a post asking people near you for a ride if they aftermarket exhaust. This isn't Honda Tech, people on here are nice and will give you a ride and help you spend money wisely.
3: Buy the catback you like

-or-

Drill a hole in your stock exhaust, and let us know how that works out (this is the stuff ricers do)

Here's a cheap modification you can do to your OEM catback that will make it sound great, gain a few HP and lose about 40 lbs of muffler weight.

lol drill a hole into your exhaust... that'd be sweet. do it.

till water from the cat and atmosphere rusts the rest of the exhaust off but then again, thats weight reduction right there!

u can always do the resonator removal method that costs about $50. cut your resonator out and weld a 2.75 pipe to it. It'll make stock exhaust sound deeper and actually it was pretty good when I did it.

I guess I got the replies I expected...
what else would you expect, your talking about drilling a hole in your exhaust because it sounds "good". You dont want to get a exhaust because of "rice cans" but you would rather drill a hole in your stock exhaust . Spend the money for a nice sounding exhaust without rice cans and you will be much better off.

Damn,

What Honda dealer do you go to that they replaced an exhaust that you had removed the resonator from?

I would think that would void the warranty on the exhaust.

Yeah, me too! I took it in for a rattle and they said it was a loose baffle in the muffles. They did not notice the missing resonator at that time (or the leak). I was sure they would notice when they replaced it, but they did not. They even showed me where the leak was (on a non-stock weld) and still no mention about it not being stock.
Back to the sound. The exhaust (with leak and loose baffles) sounded more raw and it would growl. As revs would drop after a rev it would gurgle and sounded more like a race exhaust. Again, it did not sound anything like a leaking exhaust. Even the dear (with the car on and in the air) never noticed the leak until the exhaust came off (leak was on top of exhaust). Maybe the loose baffles had more to do with the sound than the leak did? BTW, this rattle was not very loud and could only be heard at low RPM.
All the exhaust videos I hear seem to sound like a muffled growl or hum. Not a clean sound to me. Maybe the true sound is not being picked up on these videos, but I now know the sound I am looking for. I know I need to hear more exhaust in person, and I have been working on this for a while now.
