hard top or replace soft top
#11
I was in this same boat a few years back. The cost of soft-top replacement seemed astronomical to me. My thought process went as follows: If I'm going to spend ~$1200 for an aftermarket replacement -that will only rip/tear a few years later- I may as well invest in the permanent solution of a hard-top; albeit it, the cost is more than twice as much as a soft-top for a genuine hard-top. I do miss having the opportunity to drop the roof at will, especially since I live in SoCal, and now I have to spend money in order to remove the soft-top equipment, which I have yet to do.

Hardtops are still available?

Up here in NorCal.......inflation hit: $4000 is the average asking price for Hardtop in Craigslist.
I'm in the same boat.........replace the soft top or get the hard top. Tough decision, but I'll figure it out.

My car is sitting in the garage roof up. It will be down before I start my drive to work, then back up until lunch (to keep the dust out), then back down to drive to lunch, then... You get the idea. If I wanted a coupe I'd have bought a new BRZ. Near 100°F temperatures yesterday prompted me to run the AC. Car is claustrophobic with the roof up. Very hard to see out when changing lanes.
Yeah, I'll fit a new OEM top when the time comes.

There's always aftermarket hardtops. Mugen and Spoon are still sold new (as far as I know).
