Headlight Lenses

Default Headlight Lenses

So the plastic headlight lenses on my S are pretty much garbage (All scratched and discolored) Does anyone know anyone on here that sells just lenses, or an aftermarket option. I don't care if there used and need wetsanded and buffed, I just want good looking lenses.

You might be able to fix yours. 3m's headlight restoration kit worked wonders on my wife's old escort. Those were really bad you could even see the bulb through the lenses. After the 3m it looked like new headlights. Best looking part of the car. Then we traded it for a fit.

you can wet sand and polish it to a jewel shine HOWEVER you have now removed the old oxidized uv clear coat that is on there to seal the lens. Couple of options you can either reapply the clear coat OR periodically apply a sealer to prevent this from happening. you need to protect it from UV otherwise in coupe of months they will start to fade.

I did mine roughly around a year ago with the the 3M kit and it's held up so far without me needing to reseal it. However I've been using that 3m scratch remover for plastics on my headlights and even hard top window and it cleans them up nicely. I've only done this once in the last year due to hard water stains.. It will take some elbow grease to get it done but it will save you the money of not having to purchase new lenses.

Is there anyone who makes a glass lense? I had some for my gti and they were great, never cracked, never oxidized. Would really like to get out of the plastic lenses on the s.

About a year ago I started a thread gauging interest on replacement lenses with hopes that we could get a vendor to make them. There was quite a bit of interest, but nothing ever happened with it. As far as I know nobody makes replacement lenses yet. Someone should get on that, I bet they would sell like hotcakes

This has come up quite a bit. Buy a set of eBay aftermarket headlights, separate the lens then separate the oem unit and replace.

Another option....after you sand them, apply 3M PPF (paint protection film). About $40, you can do it yourself, and they'll never oxidize again. And no, it won't bubble or burn or whatever. I've had it on 3 of my S2k's.

yep......thats what i heard too, just buy one and swap out the lens.
