HeelToe Auto's First Locking S2000 Top Latch Button
Hi Everyone!
I want to introduce everyone to our S2000 Top Latch Locking Buttons...
I know we have all been wanting, waiting a something to secure you beloved Hardtops. After some cases of thieves targeting S2000's with a hardtop, and easily stealing them. A forum member then contacted a company to help create a locking mechanism for the S2000, it started off alright...but eventually they stopped responding.
That is when I decided we should take a look at this issue. We initially wanted to make a new latch. But there are issues with a totally new latch, like potential unwanted sounds (rattles), structural strength, aesthetics, cost, and why mess with a designed and engineered part from Honda that was designed that way for a reason? The grip strength of the latch will not be an issue, with an aftermarket design if it grips too strong you can stress the fiberglass on your HT over time, causing it to crack and fatigue. Latching it too loose...and wind noise etc...might occur.
We wanted a proper thief deterrent, without compromising the OEM look and quality of the OEM pieces. Nothing can be made thief proof, but a deterrent would be enough to deter most would be thieves from even attempting to steal something that is locked and secured down.
We then took apart the latches to see just how it works, and through this we came up with an ingenious idea. You will be able to retain you OEM latches and strikers. You will only need to replace one part on the latch and install is simple as removing two screws Don't need to remove the latch from the car, and takes two minutes per lock.
Now on to the pictures and let them speak for themselves Only the locking mechanism that is complete is shown, it is missing the bottom piece that will make it look exactly like the OEM button. Production will begin next month and should be available by the end of next month. Parts will be anodized Black, with custom color options available for the first initial run. Also security stickers to alert potential thieves will be included as well. Pre Order/Into prices will be up soon...
Remember this is a Solid Billet Aluminum piece machined to look like the OEM button and drilled out to accept securely the locking mechanism.

When you turn the key the button will pop out thus meaning unlocked and yoiu can unhook your latch. When you push the button back in it is in the locked state. You only need the key to unlock it, and a push of the button to lock it.
