All great points (except for the one about it being photoshopped). If you notice, the LSx remains behind the centerline of the front suspension. Agreed, I have no idea how this extra weight (if any) would affect handling. A point was made regarding the weight of the LSx and inded, they are light provided you get the correct one.

Several thoughts and I would love to hear from one of the owners that have made their swap:
  • Wonder if any changes had to be made to the firewall to get the thing to fit.
  • What would be the location of the gearbox (I presume the six speed) in relation to the opening for the shifter. The S2K has a pretty deep center tunnel, so there should be enough room.
  • My main concern would be the differential. And please, lets not get in AP1 vs AP2 pissing contest. Either way you look at it I don't think the stock S2K differential would hold up to the extra torque of the LSx.
Sure is an awesome machine and what makes it so remarkable is what you don't see. To pull off a swap this clean and this detailed is very difficult to do.

Oddly the larger V8 doesn't come in that much heavier. If you strip the engine bay many folks get close to the 50/50

Look at Importmuscle.com they have all the info on the swap. I believe I read that it is close to 200 lbs. heavier if you choose to keep A/C in the car.

Most use a ford diff (8.8?) The shifter fits into the same location as the stock s2000. I have followed a few build threads with LS swaps and they are enjoayble to read. No cutting to the firewall, you do however, need to notch the frame rails and weld in another piece.

the ls1 weighs 50 lbs more than the f22c...so not a large impact there.

Firewall was slightly modified, mainly the reinforcement on it.
With the Import Muscle kit the shifter stays in the stock location.
My S has a 2010 Camaro diff with custom axles rated for 1000hp.
