Default Help with OEM hardtop

Hi,

Do anyone know how to remove the side trim pieces circled in the picture? Help would be appreciated. I removed the rubber seals and it wouldn't budge. If someone could walk me through it, that'd be cool. Thanks

I haven't done this but i have removed the hardtop headlining. I took a look to see how they were held on. From what I gathered once the headliner is out you will be able to see 2 long threads that i assume have bolts on them that can be accessed by a long socket. I assume unbolting these 2 will remove the outer trim. Let us know how you go if you do this as interested if I was assuming right or not.

Yes, there are two long bolts with 8mm nuts on the vertical part of the trim. On the horizontal part of the trim, towards the front, it is held on by a small phillips screw, that was hidden under all the glue and rubber. I wish I knew this before I got my hardtop painted. Oh well, you live and learn, I guess I'll be painting my car in another 5 years. Thanks for the help!

Yes I do remember that phillips head screw now up the front. Thanks. They say doing a respray properly is to remove the side trims and the rear glass as well.

Yes. I agree. It would definitely be cleaner.
