Default HELP! Tein RS install- problems

Hi,

I ran into a problem installing my Tein RS coilovers. While rotating the reservoir tank to the proper location to clear the upper "A" arm I noticed some oil coming from the point where the reservoir rotates around the strut. After stopping rotation and tightening down the allen screw the oil leakage stopped.

Now of course, the front right coilover is going to have less oil than the left thus resulting in a difference in the compression/reboound settings.

My question is, Is there a way the average person can reservice the strut with oil? I live in Alaska and already paid a great deal for the shipping. I hate to do it again to send them back to Tein. I've never had any problems like this before however this is the first install I've done with external reservoirs. I don't know if this is common or not.

From research I've heard people use ATF in coilovers, if this is true does anyone know how to properly service them?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

you pretty much answer your own question.

if an average joe can do it, why would they even bother to have rebuild service?

it take a great deal of knowledge and tool to get the job done properly, there's a high chance that pressurized gas was leaked out when you had the fluid running, it's not just oil in the damper.

call tein to see if they have anyone near by that could rebuild them, last time i check tein only service their damper on the westcoast(US), unlike bilstein and koni which they have an extended network

they are not atf oil, please don't ghetto hack it and render it totally useless.

hydraulic jack use jack oil only, using brake(which is hydaulic) oil in jack will void warranty, not sure if you want to do a science testing on your damper tho'
