Wink HELP: yet another HT help thread

hey guys
I searched about 30 minutes and maybe I am not searching in the right spot, but I cannot find this anywhere. Tons of pages about the catchers. But my issue is with the front latches. The HT was installed by the dealer and the latches are so loose and what I mean by that is the tension or force to snap them down is nothing compared to how it was with the soft top latches. Can anyone link me or help me out on how to adjust of fix it so the hart top snaps on tighter up front. I have mad wind noise on the both sides. Thanks guys.

check the hardtop strikers to make sure they didn't loosen out of place (pull off the side plastic against the windshield, then unscrew the sunvisor.

I have pretty much zero tension in my hardtop latches and I don't have wind noise.

Try shin etsu grease on all the rubber yet?

if the wind is coming from the corner of the hardtop, cut a 1"x2" piece of foam and place it between the hardtop and the windshield frame when latching the hardtop. otherwise, air gets in right at the corner of the windshield by the sun visors.

The latches are locked by a press button on each latch handle and the handles sit loose when closed. This is correct. The hook itself, however is under spring load and should hook the striker with tension. Check this and you should be ok. There should be flush fit with the leading edge of the top and the rubber seal over the windshield frame, with half the top of the rubber gasket showing as it meets the top's edge. The top's edge pushes down on half the gasket surface to create the seal. If this is not so, then either the strikers themselves are worn, not aligned from left to right, or the rear latches of the top need adjusting to realign the position of the whole top. The rear contacts of the top are the only real adjustable alignments, whereas the front latch strikers are only adjustable left to right along the windshield frame. This is the design of the car and expecting anything more than this is a modification, not an adjustment.

the hard top is about 8 months old from the dealer so i dont think it is worn. car is at honda getting re fitted. i spent to much for this damn HT for it to have incorrect fitment.
