Hi, I'm new and would love some help
Hi all,
I am going to be a new owner of a '06 Honda S2000 this coming Friday. I know S2000's have a high rate in theft for either the car itself or it getting stripped completely. I would like to add some more security to help prevent any of that.
I'm not too savy with the car lingo as well so please help me if I am saying the wrong thing.
To start, I will be keeping my car in a garage so that is my first line of defense for the overall car itself. I would love to add seat locks, and wheel locks (lug nuts?), and possibly add a security system (maybe viper?) as well.
Are there any seat locks that aren't OEM(stock) so it isn't so easy to get my seats stripped from my car if it were to get broken into?
As far as wheel locks(lug nuts? are they the same thing? no, right? lol...), my brother told me that a mechanic at Honda told him that Honda only has 12 variations of wheel locks which make them an easy target to get stolen. So I'd like to get some high rated or well known ones in this community to add on. I have OEM AP2 wheels.
For a security system, I've always heard about Viper but was curious if there was anything else that was in competition to it maybe that some people prefer over Viper?
Lastly, do most S2000 owners use a clutch/steering wheel lock?
Thanks and will appreciate any advice given.
Edit:
I hope I posted this in the right thread...sorry if I didn't
OH, and strut bars. There are front and rear ones, right? Since S2000's are RWD does it make sense to get it in the rear or front? Maybe both or is that redundant?
Sorry if these are stupid questions. I'm a noob and trying to learn

Where exactly do you live that you are so worried about theft?
Just having seat locks of any kind is a plus. It should throw the thief off if they are strictly going for the seats.
Wheel locks of any sort are also a plus.
Viper is the most common alarm system I believe. Another major brand is Clifford. Just do a google search.
I'm sure you don't want to hear this but if a thief really wants the car they will get it. Taking these precautions do help though.

You can install aftermarket strut bars but they really don't have a noticeable difference unless you're cornering hard in my experience sway bars however do. Viper is always a good alarm system to go with and there's some threads going around where people install kill switch's in the cars to help prevent theft but if someone is persistent and knowledgeable enough then well you may as well just be calling the insurance company the morning after. There Believe Mcgard is the name for the seat locks also which supposedly are pretty nice for what they are.

Thank you so much for the reply guys! Very much appreciated. I'll look into it more

You want the OEM wheel locks. There is no such thing as a truly unique wheel lock. 12 variations is till pretty good. To be honest though these can be defeated but it seems rare to have the oem wheels stolen.

Not that I have seen.

Front gives you a nice place to rest your hand when working under the hood. Rear isn't possible or needed. They don't do anything really.

Camera for the garage. I have a Nest Drop cam. They are pretty cheap and as long as you have decent wifi they work well. I can see my garage whenever I want to. It also alerts me on my phone if there is movement in the garage.

Really the best protect for your car is you being smart. Be aware of where you park it. Don't leave things for thieves to see. ALWAYS park it in the garage. And lastly have good insurance so if something does happen you are made whole.
