hood spacers lol
Raising the back of the hood OR removing the rubber seal under the back of the hood will probably reduce cooling efficiency through the radiator, since the base of the winshield is a HIGH PRESSURE ZONE. Air will most likely flow IN through the gap, which will reduce flow through the radialtor. It would be great for heat soak in stop and go traffic, but would suck big harry balls on a track.

Pics or ban!
I couldnt do that... the rain would fall right on the manifold and turbo for me. And mine is DDin.

right now i have a silver oem hood with the vent cuts. gonna bring it to a body shop and get it painted.
Not saying I approve, but spacing up the back of the hood doesn't only give a gap at the back of the hood (high pressure zone), it gives openings along the sides of the hoods (low pressure zones, particularly towards the front of the car). Also, the high pressure region at the base of the windshield/back of the hood will stil be lower pressure than the air inlet at the front of the car feeding the radiator. Not saying that it for sure would increase airflow through the radiator and engine compartment, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did.
Regarding downforce, some guys did a TON of configurations on a 240Z in a wind tunnel, and the mod that had the most beneficial effect on reducing front end lift was when the hood release unintentionally released at the start of the run (hood opens backward on the 240, fortunately).
Not that a 240z's aero is necessarily similar to an S2000's. For one thing the back of the hood is maybe 4-6" in front of the base of the windshield.

gernby has it right. BTW, taking off the heat/sound insulating pad under the hood helps a little.
i had those on my turboed Miata.
not a slick looks indeed.
every traffic light stop somebody told "man, your hood is open".
but instead of paiyng 500$ for vented hood (and paying at least 700$ more for everseas shipping and customs) or cutting stock one to pieces - 20$ for risers incl shipping did amazing job for lowering engine compartment temperature.

That pad is a fire blanket. Removing it might not be a good tradeoff
I know my old civic had one, but I don't recall my S every having one...
