I'm really thinking about adding a layer of fiberglass to the inside. If I do that, would I also need the 404, or would I just use the 105 resin and hardener? I guess I'd want to use the extra slow hardener so I could be slow?

You'd just use resin and hardener if you're adding a layer of cloth.
What Jeff said.

The 404 is, basically, shredded fiberglass. It's mixed into the resin and allows you to just paint the coat on without having to mess with the cloth.

I wouldn't use just resin and hardener, though. Resin is very brittle on it's own, that's what the material (either filler or material) is for - it adds the strength.

S2KNFR - how old was your intake? the newer ones have MUCH thicker resin and therefore, the intake doesn't have that braaaap noise.

Haha I love how a lot of people think PWJDM is so good and then I see a bunch of reviews on fitment and quality where people aren't happy...and the whole time the guy that started it is driving around in a full carbon Lambo because people pay $1K for his intake (which looks kinda like a knock off of ASM right). I mean Kudos to him, he is a good businessman and making a company with the letters "JDM" in it was a great idea.

S2KNFR, How is your intake holding up after adding the fiberglass filler? Did the noises ever return?

I decided to add some fiberglass to the inside of my "power chamber" over the weekend to see if it will finally eliminate the BRAP noise between 3K-4K RPMs. I haven't EVER done any sort of fiberglass work, or really even used epoxy before. I just did half of the inside last night, and it seemed to turn out okay. I'll do the other half (bottom) tonight.

wow, nice work.

i think you only need to do the top half of the power chamber to get rid of the brap.

be sure to get new free hardware from pwjdm. the bigger screws are nice.

Sorry to hear that you had to abandon the intake!

I haven't heard anything about PWJDM offering new hardware. What hardware did they change?

Does anyone know how to install the updated hardware? PWJDM sent me a baggy with some inserts and bolts, but no instructions about how the inserts are supposed to be "inserted". Do you just drill a hole that is slightly smaller, then push them in with your fingers, and hope it's tight enough for them to stay?

BTW, After fiberglassing more pieces of the intake, I finally found the source of the noise! It's the lid! I fiberglassed it, and it's gone!
Here is the thread about all the things I've tried, and the actual fix is at the end. It's been 14 months!!!
