Just keep the stock intake and get a spoon replica snorkel.

To possibly hurt airflow? I'd pass. Yes a snorkel will help bring in cooler air, but the temps won't be a huge difference anyways from the front bumper, up to where the induction to the airbox is. You will not notice any difference with a snorkel, and is pretty much useless unless going over 65mph. Even then you won't really notice a difference. Also most snorkels (the ones where you do not have to cut the hood) are pinched so they don't hit. The only snorkel I would get is one that is the same thickness all the way through, and all of those you have to cut the hood. I would never trim my OEM hood for something that will make no real difference, and those ones are pretty expensive. Imo a snorkel is a waste of money.

For example, take a deep breath and make your mouth into the shape as if you were sucking out of a straw. Now go get an actual straw and bend it at a 45 degree angle and take deep breath through it, it isnt as easy to get air in is it?

I had the invidia on one of my old S2K's and that thing was just loud.

It sounded great when being revved up but around town it was just annoyingly loud, even with the silencers.

I just ordered a Comptech that will be there the 17th and I love the sound of those.

Horrible idea. FIPK, AUT plate and a BPi velocity stack is where it's at

To see the real gains from a CAI, tuning is needed. This goes for any part but more so with a CAI. VTEC will need to be lowered, adding gobs of midrange power.

I've run a shortram, Cai, and the pwjdm intake without and now, finally with the snorkel (installation issues.) Without the snorkel the pwjdm lost a significant amount of power compared to my cai, according to my butt dyno. I was beyond skeptical of the power it had been claimed to make once installed properly. Well without a doubt it is the best intake I've had. This intake combined with my70mm test pipe and greddy ti-c turned this car into a different beast. I'll be getting it tuned at inlinepro or ptuning hopefully next week. I have zero regrets with parts I have purchased.

^ so correct me if i'm wrong here. you are using the pwjdm intake, right?

oh and i agree with ya on the snorkel+ 70mm exhaust. i used to run a snorkel and miss it but now i have a mugen style intake w/o the cut-out on my front bumper. i really do notice a difference at higher speeds between the two. w/ snorkel + stock airbox, it felt like it had more torque at higher speeds. oh and good luck w/ your tune there.

op- i used to run an aem v2 cai which is basically the same as any cai like the injen that your talking about. anyways, imo it sucks. not only do you run the risk of hydrolocking the engine but in the hot summer days, it'll feel the same as oem box. i know a lot of ppl are going to disagree with me on this one (more than likely they never experienced it first hand) but i used a snorkel+oem box to help reduce the heat soak issues in the summer days. and it helped a lot, no more boggin issues from dead stops and plus like i said, i used to run the aem v2 and between the two set up; i was very pleased with the snorkel. the snorkel is only like 80-100 bucks as well.
