I guess you get what you pay for sometimes
sorry for the troubles.
regarding the 3m tape, it is best applied when it is warm, and it comes off easiest with a heat gun most the time.
thanks. that is what our first impression was, due to the lack of heat that the weather provided. when it gets warmer and the material of the bumper and lip is naturally warmer, i will be having a heat gun to try to secure the 2 together and have someone push from behind the stock bumper while another person presses on the lip. again thanks for all of the support and suggestions.
the part you have is probally made of urethane. urethane has oils in it during the molding process. PPG and other paint companies make prep kit specifically for urethane prior to paint. if your paint shop did not use them, the paint will chip off quickly too. as a rule of thumb, i always sand and clean tape bed surfaces prior to paint and always use a 3m adhesive promoter. at best applying heat now is causing more oil to release out of the urethane. this process is used to heat treat tpo parts and polypropolene prior to painting, but must be sealed within a window of time. you need to remove the bumper and prep the surface of the tape bed over again. if you can not get a proper prep kit, you can use ajax and water to clean the surface of oils. remember to rinse thoughly and dry the part. you must use adhesion promoter or you are SOL. the 3m tape that is stuck to your bumper is easy to remove. vhb tape is a sponge with adhesive impregnated in it. if you stretch the sponge, it soaks the adhesive back into it. pull the tape at a 35-45 degree angle from the surface and it should release in larger pieces without burning up your thumb.
