How often do you have oil them?

Well I have heard from several people not to run the K&N filters, because the oil inside of them can over time cause damage to your sensors. A guy at Honda told me they will actually void your warranty if they see a K&N filter on your car.

I'll probably get flamed for this, but I had one in my TL for 25000 miles and never touched it. I never noticed a difference in performance either. I did inspect it from time to time to make sure it was gunked up. and the instructions say to clean it every 50000 miles, FWIW. Oh and the Acura dealer never once told me that it would violate my warranty as I would leave it in when I took it in for service.

dealers can void your warranty for any non-factory part on the car, its just a question of whether or not the tech will let it slide.

any aftermarket filter can void your warranty.

yep, there's nazi dealer and there's dealer that actually install and sell k&n product(including intakes)

you don't need to oil them unless you clean the filter itself, most owner over oil it.

not a biggie for map sensor but those oil kills maf sensor in hand of idoit user

And when you do clean and oil it, (I do mine every other oil change ~10k miles) throw in your OEM on and clean the K&N. You should stuff the inside and wrap the outside with paper towels and let it sit overnight inside a plastic bag. This will absorb any excess oil.

umm..clean the oem?

If you follow the directions, KN will tell you exactly how much oil to use on the filter. There is no need to let it sit overnight. And overoiling is the only way that it could gunk up a sensor.
