Default K&N FIPK question

I just received my new K&N intake and am going to install it tomorrow and was wondering but never read it. Is the improvement felt immediately?

On other cars I've owned I had to remove the ground wire to the battery to "reset the car" and ecu so that it could adapt to the mod. Mostly for intake and exhaust mod's

Are you supposed to do that with the S? more specifically a 2004 AP2?

thanks dawgs

I didn't feel much when I had this one my car. It was louder at WOT but I didn't feel any noticeable gains on the butt dyno.

Yes, you're suppose to disconnect the negative terminal to let the ECU relearn the new intake flow.

It's up to you. Either way the ECU will adapt to it.

consensus is you should...really easy to do...just make sure you have your radio code handy cause it will ask you for it when you try to turn on the tunes...other than that go for it

Don't bother with resetting the ECU. It will only take a day for the ECU to adjust, and there's really no reason to think that the reset parameter are going to be more appropriate than the parameters it already has.

Resetting the ecu does notating of benefit. Don't expect much of an improvement. You're looking at 3hp in the mid-range max.

Agreed with the above, reset isn't really needed. You will not notice much other than the increased sound from the intake - but that sound makes it worth it.

What about it? I believe the claim was 5-9, and from personal experience around 5/6 seems to be a fairly accurate number. Remember elevation, temp, etc. makes a difference.
