everyone has to remember too, putting gears in an ap1 makes it close to an ap2 stock gearing putting gears into an ap2 becomes uber aggreesive. i think 4.44 or 4.57 in ap1 is close to ap2 overall gearing. rather then do gears in ap1, swap tranny and have same gearing as ap2 with i think better syncros but with 9k redline

Those gear sets arent hard to find, just call your local junk yards, they should have some thing in the trash heap for you. Bring your own tools and save a bundle more, I even bet you could get it this way for under $100 (don't forget to bring a jack.)
Without turning this thread into another gears spin off here's my opinion; 4.44 are a good upgrade (the S should have came stock this way) 4.57 just a bit better but start to make me worrry about highway driving (although if gas prices keep dropping who cares!) 4.77 damn this is a high gear set, you will have to shift through out gears much faster than you may like, and you will lose the most out of all three in top end speed.
All in all, gears are all great when you're in the moment, get a gear you feel you can use on an every day basis. 4.44 4.57's

Having driven several turbo cars with really low gearing....I would be all over that 3.6 gear set if I still had my turbo S2k. I love driving long geared turbo cars. It loads the turbo well and so going to the lower gear set you don't feel that much of a performance lose, but boy is it great to drive around and use the broad tq a turbo offers.

On an AP1 definitely go with 4.77's. Highway driving is much better than before. Higher revs obviously, but now much more power than before in 6th gear. No need to downshift anymore.
Definitely would not say it is worth it to spend all that money and get 4.56 or 4.57 gears. 4.77 is still not a massive difference but definitely a nice gain for street driving. Anything less would be a waste of money for feel imo.
