I say get the K&N FIPK. There is always the risk of hydrolocking with a CAI, and it has been done to multiple guys here on the forum. With the FIPK you have nothing to worry about like that, it sounds and looks great also. An intake isn't going to just add a ton of power, especially without a tune so I would just get what looks/sounds the best to you.
P.S. Don't get the K&N FIPK from there if it's $300. You can find it new elsewhere for around $220 shipped new.

Coming from someone who has had a K&N FiPK and now has a AEM V2..
I'd say go with the K&N if you don't want to cut up your splash guards and have a risk of hydrolocking your car.. Both parts are very nice and you'll be happy with either one.. The only reason I swapped to the AEM v2 was because it's what I had originally wanted before I got a steal on a K&N and went that route.. After about 8 months or less with the K&N I started really feeling the heatsoak from the Louisiana climate and naturally I went with the V2 because I always wanted it to begin with..
They sound completely different and I thought the K&N was one of the best sounding systems I ever heard until I got the AEM.. the sound is amazing!! I'm still a little paranoid when I wash the car and so far I haven't had to drive it in the rain or anything like that..
So if any of that is on your concern list, just get the K&N and be worry free.. (it's easier to install too) I just recently sold mine, the new owner will be very happy!!
Hope that helps..

none of these responses make any sense if they actually understood how you install the v2 - the splash guards have to be trimmed to fit around it and a small hole in the piece that leads to the radiator area is made for airflow otherwise you could literally suck your fender clips off and distort the bumper every time you were on the gas.
I've been in some flash floods with the s and my v2 and never had problems - I've had safe mode triggered by the moisture in heavily humid rain air but that's it. All that means is no vtec until less moisture is present not a big deal.
The only way your going to hydro lock then is basically because your driving in conditions that you shouldn't be anyway like foot deep water and you should be more worried about the ecm and electrical systems like abs at that point. And this isn't an accident AEM puts alot of effort into making products safe to use.
And actually I think you'll find the KN piece is more exposed to things like heat and water on average that degrade the materials used to seal the filter.

k&n also look like strait ass under the hood. aem all the way. You'd have to try a river crossing to hydrolock. Total bullshit. I've had mine for four years and I even have the vent in the bumper cutout. Never any problems with the water.
i had both intakes and it really depends on the op. both in my opinion are great intakes and are great at what they do individually. i love the k&n for the sound, absolutely love the sound!!!! but city driving was a joke in the summer heat. heat soak causes my head aces of bogging and hesitations. but anywhere over 40 or on the highway, the mountain, is a complete beast. but the heat soak got old and i got a snorkel, spoon style. yea that had its own problem of not getting enough air until you were moving pretty fast. i went with aem because of the lack of heat soak. but hydro locking is and issue and u do have to cut your liner up. if you make an diy umbrella that will stop most of your hydrolock worries. but i do occasionally worry about big puddles. i remember there was this small section of road maybe 25 feet at the most that was flooded to about 4 inches or so. it was pretty deep. at the time i had the K&N and i went through it slowly and made it. i guaranty that it would be disastrous if i had the aem.
both intakes have their own problems but they have their own strengths.
K&N
Pro: better throttle response
easier to install
reusable filter
sounds better
no hydrolock
higher max whp gain
more fun highway friendly
con: heat soak
ugly
bad filtration
AEM
Pro: No heat soak
looks not cheap
better filtration
better kept cool if wrapped with heat cloth wrap and pour cold water on
personally dyno proven to have better overall whp gain
better city friendly
best midrange whp increase and Cai hump at 3500 rpm
Con: crappy install
hydrolock
non-reusable filter(or at least i dont think so)
Edit: AEM is also a reusable filter.

The dryflow filter is definitley reusable dude..
EDIT: found it.
And the AEM filters are made by/in conjunction with K&N
