Thread revival:

I wish I had seen this, my drivers side headlight is cracked the exact same way by, you guessed it, LaminX.

Yeah Ive heard this several times with their product, like others have said its just the material shrinking.

usually it's because the film is thick and causes the headlight to retain too much heat. over time it causes the lens to crack.

this happened with my other car's foglights, but never had an issue with HIDs.

It sucks that I read this too late. I did my headlights 1 month ago and noticed today that I had a bunch of crack marks on the upper portion of both headlights up 2" long in the vertical direction. You guys were probably right with the film being too thick and the shrinkage cause the outer surface to fracture. Good thing I removed the ones for the headlight since I could not make it form properly to the curvature of the tailights...and being in Texas made it even worse.

That sucks bad , especially one can't just do a replacement part that easily. I got these headlight protectors that work much, much better and don't damage.
Was thinking about running DRL's on inside or outside lower edge of the headlight protector, probably not now after reading how the heat can possibly damage.

sorry to hear your lights cracked. Ive had the lamin x on now for 3 years and the headlights are still fine. I believe the problem is with the heat from the drl.

those external covers look great

Wow that sucks! Don't reapply Lamin-X though. I daily drive my s2k, and deliver pizza in it. I drive on the high way like everyday too. My headlights are great. It's not worth the hassle if they may crack again IMO
